Yes but it was a "sell by" date so surely it should have been taken off or marked as "out of date" .

    i think Glen_B did a typo there.

tinned stuff is BBE - best before end.

fresh fruit 'n' veg, meat etc. is 'sell by'.

So if BBE then it defo shouldn't have been on shelf if it was BBE 2010...or am I being thick...and missing something....it's ok you can be honest:)

The product is best before, not sell by or use by, which means it can be eaten after that date just that the quality will probably start to deteriorate after that. Most tinned products are fine well past the BBE date.

i'm not too sure about the law exactly but i think tesco (or any other supermarket) are ok to sell a product with a BBE 2010 (obviously if the tin has expanded etc. then it's not).

however, if it said 'use by' 12/2010 then that would be wrong...even if it was 'use by 19/05/11' then that would also be wrong.

A quick hi and bye :hello:
    I've had a rubbish shop today :(.

I forgot to take the list of 1p finds to look for with me so tried to remember but couldn't :o.

I looked for the Tesco's tissues and couldn't find any. :(

I bought the Tesco cat meat but couldn't remember which one and ended up paying £2.49 and having to take them back to CS muttering that my cat is a fussy eater and I had picked these up by mistake. :o

My £3 Dettol voucher wouldn't scan and when the CO tried to input the code manually, the till displayed a message saying something about item not being bought (I had bought the refill not the system) :(

Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day and I will find lots of 1p bargains :)

    Nite nite all

I did the same, wrote them all out with barcodes and rushed out without it!

I managed to get some boxes of tissues, the Tesco Finest with Aloe Vera (pale green rectangle box), SEL said £2.??, scanned at 27p. Looked down all the aisles for the mini eggs on strips but none to be found. No pirates either :(

Well done to everyone for finding and posting the 1p bargains, thanks! :T
