World Traveller + revamp

This comment summarises the point I was trying to make perfectly; 'comfort' is entirely subjective and not a measurable advantage between the two products - the rest of your post is full of examples of personal preference rather than genuine differences. Inedible food on china is still inedible food

Indeed, BAs CCR at Heathrow and JFK offer far superior services compared to the VS clubhouse at T3 - but that's an entirely irrelevant point in this discussion.Doshwater wrote:it was cheaper to book WTP and use miles to upgrade to CW than to book WT and use the same number of miles to upgrade to WTP!
I believe that's often the case as only the more expensive WT tickets are upgradeable, whereas *any* WTP ticket is upgradeable including bargin basement sale fares (eg £600 return to NYC).Doshwater wrote:I'm not aware of what those "circumstances"
If you start a WTP journey from a UK outstation (say EDI for example), then your domestic leg books into the 'UK Business' bracket granting your lounge access at the start of your journey, *and* the return leg.
No such joy with VS PE ticket.Doshwater wrote:I have a few long haul business trips coming up but we aren't allowed to book CW no matter what the distance - but WTP + miles will get me the flat bed and limitless champagne!
Sadly my employer books everything through a corporate TA, which means no miles upgrades (although they book us into CW, so it's not exactly the end of the world
) I earn sufficient miles to do CW MFUs for personal trips, and I agree that availability does mean I need to be flexible. Legal team on standby0 -
Yeah you are right, BA WTP is just as good as VS PE, I guess it is just me that has a deluginary vision of comfort. I just know who I would spend MY hard earned money with. This comment summarises the point I was trying to make perfectly; 'comfort' is entirely subjective and not a measurable advantage between the two products - the rest of your post is full of examples of personal preference rather than genuine differences. As for the example of how you can gain lounge access when traveling WTP I thought you were going to come up with something that was useful to more than 0.0000001% of us.
Stating that the CCR at LHR is better than the T3 VS clubhouse, and you accuse me of subjective opinions :rotfl:
Anyway, I am done here, enjoy your cramped uncomfortable seat (my opinion) with a leg rest that jabs into you calf (fact) while you are eating breakfast out of a cardboard box (fact). But then again you will be able to enjoy the "superior" offings of the CCR at T5. (Providing you have traveled the itinerary that allows it)The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Who cares about WTP, the new 777-300 is apparently carrying an all new IFE system from a different manufacturer than the current tempramental heap of ****!0

So if/when anyone tries the new service, can you let us what it's like and what's the difference from before.
Cheers
You have clearly never flown first class!

I would agree with this, but the compensatory miles certainly make up for any problems!
Gone ... or have I?0 -

Thanks for conceeding that - I pushed you to provide a genuine measureable difference between the two, and you struggled. I personally really can't see any massive difference between the two, and you'd provided nothing to alter that perception.stoneman wrote:lounge access when traveling WTP I thought you were going to come up with something that was useful to more than 0.0000001% of us
The majority of people in the UK don't live near a hub, and hence when flying long-haul need to initially fly to a hub. When flying WTP with BA that will grant you lounge access, but not when flying VS. Given the products are near identical, and the cost is often identical, the bonus of lounge access could be a real sway for many passengers.Legal team on standby0 -

I've never been offered anything other than a bog standard "sorry". Then again I'm not a BA FF, and after this weeks experience don't intend to be a BA FF!0 -

I think they have a couple of different versions at the moment. When i flew to Denver this year we had a crap looping tape system on the outbound leg but a half-decent on-demand system on the return. 777-200 both times, but the return had the larger Club World cabin.
That said, newer systems aren't all that great either. I work with brand new 777-300ER's every day and the IFE is always playing up.0
