Any ideas?
Staying for 2-3 days. Been to Trafford Centre so will make a trip there. Looking for normal high street shops and designer stuff - can someone tell me the best places to go please?

Sod the Traffic Centre. Manchester City centre is much better for shopping.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I agree, there's not really any point going to the Trafford Centre if you're going to Manchester as well, it's just the same shops you can find in the city and it's always so busy it makes me want to punch random people in the face.
For a brief overview: designer shops - mainly around King Street or there's Selfridges and Harvey Nichols around Exchange Square. High streets shops are mainly Market Street and the Arndale Centre. Independent shops are scattered about, plenty in the Northern Quarter.0 -
Thanks for the replies - big help.
Would Premier Inn, Portland St be walking distance to the shops?0 -
Yes.
And there are free shuttle buses around the city centre for when it rains.0 -

The lowrey outlet place is worth visit as well tram to Salford Quays.
Bury Market is one of the best in the country if you've got a car or don't mind a short tram journey.
The main high-street and Ardale centre has got all your high-street shops.
Deans gate got your fancier shops and Oxford road got a few high-street shops and few independents.
Church street has a collection of independent shops including http://www.afflecks.com/ which is well worth a visit.
I cant stand the Trafford centre horrible place.0 -
I loathe the Trafford Centre in comparison to other shopping places in Manchester. Your best bet is probably the main high street and the Arndale, with a bit of Deansgate for the designer stuff. If you want clothes for something specific the Arndale also has a free personal shopping service (and trust me, a personal shopper for more than one shop that doesn't charge is rare as hen's teeth!)."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0

ooohhh i love afflecks, really miss shopping there since i moved down southDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
I've got 2 teenage sons who discovered Afflecks but I'm not cool enough to go anywhere near it with them!0
