Similar one happened to my sister, she worked in a meat factory labelling chicken and turkey, one day was M& S, next day was ASDA, next was Kwik Save (was a while ago) all came from same place, same stuff with very different price tags! One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I used to work in a factory that made ready meals. (you know cottage pies, lasagne's etc) The products were all made exactly the same, the only difference was the box they were put in (M&S, asdas, or whatever) I still chuckle when I hear people say that one supermarkets ready meal is nicer than another! Unless its the box that tastes different?Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0

We have a Tesco and Lidl 100 yards apart and I've done a patient study.
You have to be a canny shopper, basically. Lidl is generally cheaper but Tesco can outdo SOME Lidl things by a surprising margin... and of course they simply carry a much greater range of things. No good hunting round in Lidl for Reduced Fat Cottage Cheese, fresh fish etc etc- they ain't got it, chum.
The holy of holies is to be able to afford the time to compare - and get the cheapest from each outlet as indicated.0 -
hi everyone on this thread, another way of getting your shopping right down is couponing !
I used to shop mainly at Aldi then pop across to Iceland for the BOGOF's (don't do them anymore)
I agree that these stores are cheaper, also they are small so you are up & down the aisles getting what you need rather than wandering aimlessly round tesco's for an hour or two !!
However, have discovered the couponing on this website and now shop at tesco's and try to get approx 50% off my shopping every week using coupons.
Come and have a look on the discount/coupon thread - i know this site is so huge you dont get time to explore all the bits of it.The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.0 -
A note of caution about coupons.... As I have already posted on another thread, Tesco now seem to be wise about some people using lots of coupons and official policy is NOT to accept them unless you are buying the product. Not all stores seem to be enforcing the policy but if people continue to abuse the use of coupons (ie paying for most of their shopping with them as some seem to) it will probably spoil it for those of us who only try to use a couple each time we shop.Proud to be dealing with my debts0

freyasmum wrote:Also shampoo, I use tesco value which is 29p for a litre, and as it contains water, it can also be watered down - great for me as OH uses far too much!
Lidl do a very nice Sport shower gel (navy label on sort of whitish bottle) for 28p. I generally find Aldi do the better shower gels and shampoos, though, and they're much more concentrated than the Tesco ones, so they last longer. Shower scrunchies are great for making shower gel go further. Aldi now do a very similar (even similar bottle and name - Head Strong) shampoo to Head & Shoulders, which seems to work just as well and smells lovely.0
