Laptop not as advertised

Hello,
Please can I ask your advice...
Just over a week ago I purchased a laptop from Argos that was advertised on the website as having Microsoft Works. When I got it
home and set up I found that it wasn't on there.
After serveral emails to customer services, I was advised that it should be on there and to call their technical department who would 'talk me through' where to locate it. Well I can say that was a waste of time.
'Click on the start menu and then 'all programs', does anything say Microsoft Works?'
'Erm..no, I had checked that...'
I was asked to return the laptop to store where it would be swapped which I did, only to find that this one doesn't have it either!
I have been asked to return this one to store where I will be offered either a refund or an alternative product.
My issue is, I don't want my money back or a different laptop, I want this one with the program advertised (or a suitable alternative program) but not sure what my rights are?
I'm aware I could probably get a better deal online but I got it from Argos so that I could pay in part with my Nectar points which saved me rather a lot.
Any advice on how I should proceed (or if indeed I have an argument in the first place) would be very much appreciated!
Many thanks in advance.

Works is usually included on a disk that is enclosed in the box rather than pre installed.
If you don't want to pay out for Office then just download Open Office (openoffice.org) this is so similar to office it's unreal, you can use .doc, .docx (office 2003/2007 extentions) as you would do normally.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -
I agree with the above, works is terrible, and incompatible with word (at least it was when i last used it) Your better off using word pad. Better still Openoffice or google docs which are both free and vastly better then works.
I prefer docs but did use open office for a year or so (until i found docs).Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Hi,
Thanks for your replies. I've heard that Works isn't that great and to be honest it's more that I don't want to let Argos off the hook as I've found their customer service and 'tech help' to be pretty terrible! Maybe I should just get off my high horse...lol
There definitely wasn't a disk included in either, and if I open up a word doc it just opens in Word Web App?
Many thanks0 -
