can you claim maternity allowance (MA)

whilst getting working tax credits if you have just had a baby but you are still working as a self employed person? thanks for any confirmation.

Sorry Deals, im not sure I understand your question. MA is a 'replacement' for Maternity Pay if you are not able to claim it from your employer - as you said, this would be the case if you were self-employed.
Have you been paying Class 2 National Insurance Contributions?

If you've paid enough Class 2 NI, you can claim the full amount (£125-ish a week). If you hold a small earnings certificate, you can claim £27 a week.
You can only claim for the weeks when you're not working. When you start the self employment again, you need to end your MA claim.Here I go again on my own....0 -
