Esure cancellation line

Has anyone else had a really bad experience actually trying to get through to speak to someone about cancelling their car insurance policy? - does anyone actually answer the phone!

I spent 30 minutes on Saturday, an hour last night and currently over 90 minutes this morning waiting to get through to speak to someone. This seems ridiculous as I've never had a problem in the past with them so it suggests something is up with just the cancellation line?

If you want to cancel, much better to do it in writing, then you have a paper trail (phoned instructions could disappear from "the system").

Return your certificate with your cancellation letter (use recorded delivery)

I would also take a photocopy or even better a scan of the certificate before you send it off. Just in case it gets lost in the post.
It shouldn't happen with recorded delivery, but I've saved myself loads of hassle in the apst by spending a few minutes being proactive.
  • Thanks for the advice. I've been away on holiday so its due to be renewed in a couple of days, hence why I've been trying to call them as I'd rather get verbal confirmation that its been cancelled than just send them the policy back and hope that they cancel my direct debit etc.

Shall I cancel my direct debit myself or wait for them? - I'm worried they won't process it in time.

Is this a case where it's worth spending £5 on next day delivery at the post office?

I have a desk job, so I'd sit on the phone and get on with my job.
Can you get on with other tasks (ccoking, eating, washing up etc.) with the phone stuck to your ear?

Yeah I've been working from home today so far. Just turned the phone off after 2 and a half hours on the phone to them (since 8am) and no joy as I've got to ring a colleague.

Hopefully someone will start working in their call centre today...I'll do a next day at lunchtime if I don't have any luck by then.
