Endsleigh student insurance

Hi, me my boyfriend and my housemate took out a 'room' policy for students with endsleigh in september last year. Luckily we haven't needed it and stupidly never read the papers as we were assured it would cover the house (not halls) and that I was covered even though I was only an OU students and do work full time. Now reading over the policy documents it seems that isn't the case.

"type of accommodation halls of residence or on-campus accommodation" (although my actual address was listed as the 'risk address'

"occupation Student"

"You have declared that the information given by You is correct to the best of Your knowledge, and that this forms the basis of the contract
between You and the Insurer.
Your application confirms that :-
You are a full time student.
You have had no more than three incidents in the last three years resulting in losses, damage, thefts or attempted thefts to personal
possessions whether insured or not.
To the best of your knowledge, the term time address has not been burgled more than once in the last three years.
You have never been convicted of or have a conviction pending for any criminal offence excluding motoring offences which result in a fine
and/or endorsement points only.
If You are unable to comply with any of the above declarations, We will be unable to insure You."

I told the woman very clearly that I was only an open university part time, distance student, she said this was fine. My housemate and boyfriend are both full time students. Have I been mis-sold insurance and is this my fault? (I know it is to a degree because I've never read it before)

The thing is, this cover only cost £53 for the full year, it covers my possessions only, and my laptop. I live in a rented house on the edge of Moss Side, Manchester, which is one of the most expensive places in the country to insure- recent quotes from other companies for full contents were in excess of £400, with a £200+ excess (I presume this is expensive), I really can't afford this. Does anybody have any suggestions or ideas for other companies that offer a similar cover for non students? Sorry for the rambling post.
