Buying my first house in Blackpool and i need to get someone to do conveyancing.
i phoned for costs from conveyancers and they differ so much.
who do i ask? some companies sounded like I would get allocated to a Team and another lady was lovely though not sure if she was a solicitor or a secretary.
do i need a solicitor or can i save some money and get a secretary?
any advice please

Best advice would be to get prices from Solicitors in the location of where you are buying. Why? they should have local knowledge of the area and may be aware of some developments etc. which may not show up on local searches etc. which are carried out as part of the formal conveyancing process. A local Solicitor may cost you a few quid more but it will be worth the extra costs...........just in case.0

Agree with the above. You could look to save money, but you need a good reputable solicitor in place to ensure a smooth process. Go cheap and the whole process could be a nightmare. That's what the bottom end of our chain did and the whole process was delayed by a month. Worth paying the extra I'd say.0

The difficulty with a team approach is that there is no continuity on your file. You are unlikely to have one person dealing with it from start to finish; there is no individual for you to build a relationship with. In a straightforward case where you don't have a lot of questions then that's OK, but I wouldn't personally go down that route.0
