Dental Ins Vs Health plan

Dh has started a new job, and while away in training he signed up for a health plan. £13 per month. His cover level has £300 grant for new babies. £66 (33 for spouse) for hospital stays, £200 for dental, optical, (but only 50% of the cost)

Now he does wear glasses that cost £100 odd a time (dont they all) and he isnt with an NHS dentist. He's private with my NHS dentist. (av been with him since birth and he isnt even taking private anymore, never mind NHS)

Now I do get private healthcare free with work and he is on that policy (well, its not free, my tax increased, but not by much)

Well my first thought was god no, more costs and that I dont really believe in health plans as I believe I pay for the NHS and so far thats done me just fine.

But because of the private dental I was considering dental insurance as I dread his trips to the dentist incase he needs work! (which at 30 is yet to happen)

So what are your thoughts, leave the health plan as it does have benifits, and we are considering a 2nd baby in 2012, so theres £300 off the bat, plus £33 a day if I need a section again. OR just go with the dental as thats my worry and get more covered for less?

Thanks for all replies

Personally not a fan of health plans. I know some people manage to get them to work in their favour by getting more out than they pay but that has to be a minority otherwise the insurance would not work.

When you look at all the things you should cover as a priority, these would be well down the list.
