I've just been sent this by a broker friend homer_J.
I'm not sure what I think, if its genuine its tragic, if its a hoax its a bit sick - the question is, should we trust enough to bid?

Find it very odd myself, but worth a shot for the ebay fees he'll have paid to put the ad on.
Personally, if I were going to do this, I would have 1000 items available on buy it now at £1/£2/£5 each. Seems wierd to just ask 1 person to stump up his deposit.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Yeah I know, but why does he want to buy a place, its a bit cheeky to ask for a deposit to BUY a place - I mean, why didnt he just say, can someone contribute to the costs of our accomodation until all this is sorted out?I am a Mortgage Adviser

I got the impression he felt like he was in catch 22...trying desperately to raise deposit, but paying rent so couldn't afford to and please help me get out of this vicious cycle by contributing to my deposit so I can buy and no longer be held at the mercy of landlords and social services.
Or am I being too generous?!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I don't know, its something about the way its worded that doesnt seem right, I mean, why didn't he put some buy it nows on? he'll never make much money this way even if it is geniune - I've seen some odd things on EBAY. but this has got to be the weirdest
If it is genuine the kid will be in care, not on the streets, social services would not allow that
Is it me or is the world going mad? see stuff like this makes me want to live on an highland island completely away from all civilisation and read books.I am a Mortgage Adviser

If you look at his feedback for selling, there is one negative, one neutral, and one positive. Hmmm...
If it's genuine, and does need help, ebay is not the place for asking.0 -
Out of interest, does anybody know if the landlord is under any obligation to provide alternative accommodation if the property becomes uninhabitable through no fault of the tenant's?
I would have thought the Council would provide emergency accommodation, in any case.0 -
