? about health & life insurance

My friends husband is looking into life insurance but is dithering around abit with it. Approx 14yrs ago he suffered from depression, was on anti d's and even hospitalised with it. Now i am sure that as it was so long ago, a health check from insurance company should not exclude him because of this? Also can he say he only wants medical history to be given for th last 10 years etc?
I know if you do commit suicide, that any policy wont pay out, so surely it shouldnt make a difference if there is a history of depression or not/.

This would depend on the severity of his depression. The underwriting decision could range from anywhere between normal rates if it was quite mild and an isolated episode all the way to a decline if his depression was severe.

    No.

Some do. It's probably worthwhile telling him to speak to an IFA who can speak to companies before submitting an application to see which one can offer the best terms.
