Someone suggested I repost here so her I go:-
Hi All,
I have had enough of working for my company after working for them ( off and on since the early 70's). Sorted and leaving in less than 1 month on my 55th birthday.
I will be getting pension of around £11K and planned on possible part time job to boost my income. I know I won't get job seekers allowance and am not moaning about that.
However some bar room lawyers think I can get income support or some benefits as I have a 14 year old at school.
I am very sceptical but I thought I would check if anyone has had any experience with this situation?
Thanks for taking the time to peruse my query

No you can't get IS as you do not meet the requirements and your income would be too high.
You are getting CTC?0 -
You will not be entitled to IS as your income is far too high. Its also too high for the contributory benefits.0

Tax credits is worked out on tax year 09-10 so if you rung them up to give them a lower income they would assess it on an estimated income for 10-11 so make sure you overestimate otherwise you could get an overpayment if you got any extra income.Yes I am , do I need to contact them about change in income ( loosing £18K a year).

Are you a lone parent? If not, you need to be working at least 30 hours a week to claim WTC.0
