After taking a spin in the washing machine, my boyfriends iPod is now squeaky clean :j but will not turn on
Is it completely ruined or is there hope it can be fixed?
I've told him so many times to empty his pockets before putting thing in the washing basket, maybe he will listen to me now...

You can leave it until it dries out and try again but my betting is that it is fit only for recycling in a green and responsible manner. Such damage can only normally be fixed by use of a credit card...0

Don't try to switch it on. Place it in a tub or bag with rice and leave it a day or so - this worked fine with my Sansa Clip, similarly washed.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Thanks guys. We already tried the rice thing for 3 days and thats when I tried to turn it on, but I think there's fabric conditioner in the screen too so I can only assume its in all the inside too...
I wouldn't mind but it survived a thunder storm in and then being left in the boiling sun all day when on holiday, then we get home and washed all the holiday clothes and he'd left it in the pocket of his shorts!
And I'd had it engraved for him...:(0 -
what kind of ipod is it? I put my ipod touch through a 90 degree white wash a month ago. I left it for just over a week before trying to turn it on. When I tried it didn't work but when I plugged it into the computer it came back to life. There is a bit of soap residue around the edges of the screen which makes it hard for the touch feature to work but its only the very bottom where the last of the water dried out. So don't give up on it just yet.0

You could ask apple to replace the batteries... may cost you a bit but cheaper than buying a new ipod...0

The 11th Commandment is -
"Thou shall always check partners pockets for phone numbers and any electrical items before washing."

They did the same sort of thing on the gadget show, taking a mobile swimming etc.
They unscrewed it, left it to properly dry and it worked again. Moisture in a gadget is a killer and would take ages to dry out just by leaving it sealed, quickest way would be to actually open it, let a combination of the air and a light going over with a hairdryer for a few days, put it back together and see if that helps – not that easy I know as Apple seal their devices good!
