My mum currently gets dla care componant at middle rate due to a stroke 4 years ago, she is 67 and her mobilitly is getting steadily worse, at first i thought it was just a bit of a lack of confidence due to my dad passing away and being in what used to be an over 50's block of flats but had chjanged its policy and had been getting some not so nice characters, so we got her a place in a sheltered housing flat in the next street to us, unfortunatly it is not the case and i think its just age catching up with my mum, we got her a frame to help her get around but she does not have a good grip so cant hold onto it very well, she is currently needing taxis to go anywhere and help towrds this would have been great
I looked today and rang the benefits help line to be told she is too old for mobility but cant get attendance as she gets dla for care, so is that it??
We were hoping we may have been able to get her an electric scooter or something better than the frame
Any advice would be great
Susan
