I'm getting right into using Excel, I can't believe I haven't used it much before. I'd like to know more about some functions like sumif and countif. Does anyone have any good tutorials?
Thanks

excel is very useful! although it can be frustrating at times!
good sites to look at are: http://www.mrexcel.com/ or http://www.ozgrid.com/:think:0 -
Excel is fantastic.
Mrexcel.com is excellent, totally agree with joncarpet, don't know ozgrid. But I also use https://www.jargonfreehelp.com
If you don't mind paying a small fee then lynda.com is excellent too. But why jot use the free resources.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I'm completely self-taught on Excel, and am now the go-to geek in our company :rotfl:, and I found the in-built help topics in Excel to be invaluable.
Give their examples a go and then change little bits of the function and repeat until you understand what the function does and why it does it.NSDs: 4/50 -
Thanks. I'll give the free resources a go first but lynda.com does look interesting, could be worth the investment.

I am in the same situation as phillipsdj. In fact i am contemplating turning my extension number into one of those 090 type of numbers and charge £5 a minute :-)
Mr Excel is a top site, and also excelforum.com
A "dummies guide" type of book is always a good investment. But the best way of learning is to play. This is how I have learned most of my things. Match+index, sumproduct v+h lookups, countif, sumif and on and on

I must say I've justed looked at some of mrexcel's and jargonfreehelp's podcasts, brilliant, thumbs up to both of them. I do like video clips to help me out.
I'm going to have a look at dummies books too.
I've heard you can make your own functions too in VBA and would like to get into that.
All your help has been very useful.
Thanks

I used to make my own functions in VBA. I taught myself from the Excel help and from a book I bought called "VBA for Excel".
There are 3 help systems in Excel 2003
1) Main Excel help
2) VBA help (from VBA editor)
3) Excel VB reference (from contents of VBA help)Happy chappy0 -
Have a look at www.utteraccess.com which covers all-things-office.
Free to register and use. I also refer to Mr Excel.0 -
