Hi
I am new to this forum and have just completed on my first house purchase!
One of the first things we intend to do is replace the ancient gas fire in the front room. We have a full chimney and would like to have installed a hole in the wall fire. However, the existing fire is pretty much standing on the floor, so we would like tio replace it with a hole in the wall fire that is also close to the floor.
We will be installing lamiante floor, but I just wondered if I need a piece of marble or soemthing as protection, or am I ok to install the fire a few inches from the floor with no protection?

Good afternoon: your RGI would be best placed to advise on site requirements.
