Going Bankrupt this week

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site, although i regular view it to get tips and ideas!
I have my appointment to go Bankrupt this Thursday! I dont really know what to expect and am not really scared. I've got all my forms to fill in and need to somehow print off my bank statements for the last 3 months from my online Banking. I'm aware I will lose my bank account and I've voluntarily given up my car as it was on finance. They'll come to collect it this week. I'm gutted but its 1 less thing to add to the list of creditors i owe.
I've been told they wont take my house which i'm glad about.
I feel a bit of relief doing this but at the same time i keep kicking myself for letting me get into this mess, but i was 18 when i bought my first house, so companies threw money at me which i took without thinking about how i'm going to pay it back!
I will start to fill in my forms tonight when the little one goes to bed! they do look complicated though!

Hi James - mummy 2008,
Are you doing the online forms or paper? I found the online forms easier to complete. You can save as you go along & print them all off once you've done them.
Here's the link if you haven't got it: https://www.insolvencydirect.gov.uk/isolv/
When you've done your SOA pop it on here & it can be check through for allowances etc. Use this link and press the MSE button at the bottom, copy & pste back into yr thread.

Have you opened up a new bank account yet? Best to do that asap so you can transfer all your monies over. Remember to cancel all your direct debits of debts that are going into yr br.
Barclays cashminder or Co-Op cardcard are the best to have.
Any probs with the forms and ask away.
Good Luck.BSC 289A life lived in fear is a life not living!Proud to have dealt with my debts.0 -

You cannot do them on line now, the IS have stopped offering this service:):pB&SC No. 298

Miss Spooky, you can no longer do your forms online unfortunatly.
Also the accounts are the Co-op Cashminder or the Barclays Cash account and I agree get a new account sorted asap.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Thanks for the advise miss spooky. Shame i cant do the forms online anymore, i couldve done it at work.
I havent opened a bank account yet. I've been advised to wait until after the br as the bank could freeze an account because of the br. My partner has an account i can use just for this months salary until i get a new one open. I'm a but gutted i'll lose this account but never mind!
There aren't any DD's set up to pay creditors at the moment as I do this by debit card so it wont be too much of a pain. Bills due this month i'll just pay with my partners debit card.
I have an attachment of earnings though, what will happen to this? do i have to sort this out or is that the OR's job?0 -
Co-op do not freeze their Cashminder accounts they are very BR friendly. Ring them on 08457 212 212 and it will take about 15 minutes to get the ball rolling.
The attachment of earning should be removed after your BR but keep an eye on it to make sure it is. What was it for?BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Not sure if the Co-Op would touch me as i owed them money a couple of years ago which was transferred to a debt recovery place.
The attachment of earnings is £25 a month and its for items i got on finance from Currys years ago0 -
So it will have to be a Barclays Cash account again, I think you have to go into the branch and open one of them.
Then the AoE should be stopped after your BR, as I said just keep an eye on it so it does.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Yeah the Barclays account has been mentioned a few times now. There's a branch near work so i'll call in next week after thursdays appointment.
I'm still really unsure what to expect on Thursday. Do i meet the OR or do they just write to me?0 -

hi there is Thursday your court appointment?
what usually happens is you turn up for your appointment and a court official goes through your forms, checks for any mistakes and takes your fee in cash. the lady who dealt with mine was lovely.
i was then sent to the waiting area for about 45 minutes then called to see the judge. some people see the judge but a lot of people don't. i was in there 3 minutes, he asked me a couple of questions and declared me br.
i was given some paperwork and told the OR would call me that afternoon.
i got a brief phone call, she checked a couple of details, then she said i would get a letter through the post asking for bank statements and giving the time and date for a telephone interview. the interview was a couple of weeks later and lasted 45 minutes. some people have face to face interviews, a lot are done over the phone
it may vary slightly from court to court but that was what happened with me
i hope this helps. good luck, you'll be fine x0 -

Thanks for the notice - that will teach me not to read links that I post.
