Preordering a Wii

Is there any point doing this? I've heard rumours this doesn't do much to guarantee getting one. Also, Nintendo are normally pretty good about stock so hopefully won't be shortages.

Is anywhere doing a discount?

No, not in my opinion. Wait until it has come out, see how it does, what reviews it gets etc...

If it doesn't do well, then you can either pickup a discounted Xbox 360, or wait a few months more for the PS3.

The Wii does look cool, but that doesn't translate into a good system. Its success or failure will revolve around the controller, how it feels, how accurate it is etc...

I like the look and ideas behind the wii but personally I will wait as wolfman suggests as I don't know how many games that the console will have that I want like Call of duty and othe FPS games

i heard that the wii controllers dont have a defualt center postion like a mouse has so your going to have to keep your aim steady all the time, which will lead to arm cramp. anyway i doubt there will be any shortages, america has been allocated 1 million consoles for launch, so i reckon uk will get a decent amount.
