Is it on the outside of the door? When I was 5, my dad told me that the ice-cream van only played songs when it's out of ice-cream. Cheek!:mad:0 -

Ok. The link I've sent you will require a bit of room ventilation. When I was 5, my dad told me that the ice-cream van only played songs when it's out of ice-cream. Cheek!:mad:0 -
ah, just the sort of advice we also require. Hope you don't mind me jumping in like this. The sealant around our PVC door is peeling off in big chunks outside AND inside. Just started about a month ago. Is there a sealant suitable for both indoors and outdoors or do we have to buy 2 separate products? Thanks0

For internal use
Plastic to plastic - UPVC gap filler or stelmex £4ish a tube, hard finish no mould, can be tricky to apply goes off within 30 secs.
Plastic to paint - Decorators caulk £2 ish water based and paintable.
For external use - any mid priced silicon should do the job. £2-30 -
i use frame sealant from the poundshop.. does the jobSealed pot challenger # 10

Noooo, you want neutral cure low modulus.
Read here to explain why:

It's failed for a reason, probably the wrong stuff used initially. Don't use any old sealant or you'll be doing it again and again.
Yes I understand you need a specific type but im really asking for a make and where to buy it? Can I just go into b & q and get one?:hello:"Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is knowing it doesn't go in a fruit salad0 -
I had a similar issue around the cloaking trim of our fairly new (1 year old) uPVC door...between trim and wall. I just used decorator's caulk ..think it was just under £2 a tube in B&Q. The tube says it's also suitable for external - i'm not convinced but have tried it between cloaking trim and render so will see what happens.
For decent sealant Dow Corning sealants come well recommended..have used on other external uPVC doors/windows...you probably can't buy in a diy store though and might need to goto a trade counter at a uPVC specialist (places that sell soffits/fascias usually have them).
I have to say decorators caulk, specially from B&Q, is not the stuff to use - it doesn't even last using it on internal cracks, I've used on internal door frames and hairline cracks along walls and it is hopelessJdubb0 -
There are loads of makes. I've used a number, siroflex, soudal Best bet is to try your local upvc plastic merchants and ask for a low modulus, neutral cure and you'll get the same stuff a decent window fitter will use for a couple of quid a tube. You'll pay 4 or 5 times that at a diy store.
Alternatively, order from toolstation for about £2.50 (free delivery if you spend £10) or enter lmn silicone into an ebay search.0
