Its almost 100% of min wage workers in London get LHA and a very high percentage of those will be affected by the changes.
Its only those who still live with their mum that will not be affected yet! But you cant live with your mum forever.
Is that true a person working full time on minimum wage and renting a room at £90 a week which is the inner London south east LHA will get no help.0 -
We are talking about the families on min wage renting houses having to move out of London. Not little 1 bed studios they will not be affected that much by the cuts.0

What will happen to all these big houses being rented out for couple of grand a week to benefit claimants? Will they reduce the rent a long way for a working person?0

No it will just be filled up with young travellers working in the UK from Aus / NZL / RSA and Canada etc
Most working holiday types expect to pay between £500 - £600 pcm plus bills in rent for a 4 bedroom house within zone two0 -
I suppose it depends on the yeald they are getting but I doubt it. I wonder how many people get £2000 a week I bet it's not that many.0

What is really going to happen when these cuts come in? Will people stay in London and just use pay a larger part of their income on rent?0

I guess they will weigh up whether it is worth it. Even if they get help from LHA, if there is still a shortfall in their rent which they would have to make up it might not be worth working if they are paying a large amount of their income in rent. It's either that or move out of London to pay cheaper housing costs.0 -
How would we go about selling our house and buying silver?
My husband said we should sell now and rent because he thinks interest rates are going up and we would be better off renting.
Would we be able to get housing benefit if our savings are in silver bullion?
If we sell our house now while house prices are still high we could have some money left after paying off the mortgage. If we buy silver bullion with this so we do not have any savings and bury it for a few years or even longer until the kids grow up. Waiting for house prices to fall back down.
If we rent a similar house and claim housing benefit, are we doing anything wrong? I will not tell any lies on the form they just ask have you got any money or savings anywhere, I can honestly answer no cant I?0
