    You are quite right. Personal loans cannot be used for property*. But secured loans are different.

    *Usually. Sometimes they are used to escape neg equity or handwaved through if the applicant is a friend of one of the board.

    (I used to underwrite personal loans for a large asian bank some years ago. Times have certainly changed since then.)

    Luckily his parents didnt feel the same...

    when they gave him a big fat free handout to buy a house.
