Ebay parcel will arrive when I'm not in what happens?

I've bought my daughter a dolls house from ebay. The seller has just emailled me to say she will post it on wednesday by parcelforce 48. So I presume it will arrive on friday? So as I won't be in at all on friday what will happen to it? I don't drive so theres no way I can pick it up from a depot. Sorry if it's a dumb question.

If you aren't available to take delivery of it then Parcel Force will normally leave you a card. You either re-arrange delivery for another day, including Saturday or collect it in person from their depot, they will only re-arrange delivery once, after that you have no option but to collect it from their depot, I think after a week they return it to the sender.

When you receive it inspect the packaging carefully before signing for it, Parcel Force are renowned for damaging items in transit through careless handling.

Get yourself organised and ask a neighbour if they will accept it or Parcelforce will normally drop off at Post Office. If that suits ask them to do that for you. Just leave a note with instructions on the door.

I have all the delivery guys trained now and they all know where to leave parcels. carnage ensues if there is a new guy on the route though...:)

Thanks for the replies. If it arrives when I'm out I think I'll ask for it to be redelivered a different day.

Be prepared for them to drop at Post Office though, I am not sure if this is their default option or not, but they should leave a card detailing the fact.
