Utility bills

Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to register utility bills (gas, electric, water) in more than one name? And if so, is there any disadvantage to doing so? I know that having a joint bank account links your credit histories, does putting more than one name on the bills link the credit histories too?
Cheers
