Citroen C5 heater rheostat - where? Thanks

Hello

Wife has a Y reg 1.8l petrol C5 with air con, but without climate control.

The rheostat has gone (bit of an assumption, but having had them go on my other car, I think its a good guess), the heater only works on full blast.

I have found a smashed up C5 in the local scrappy, but scrappyman didn't know where to find the rheostat, neither did I (I went for bits for another car, not expecting to find a C5)

I've searched the usual forums, but have got conflicting info as to where to find it. Do any citroen owners out there know where to find it?

Many thanks

    before chnging it are you sure pollen filter is not blocked? i have had it a few times where blower works on full only indicating resistor issue but was actually the filter blocked solid so moter could not suck air in.

    not a c5 owner but the resistor/rheostat is located drivers side quite high up on heater box,you will need to take out the trim that fits around pedals.
    from memory it has 2 plugs one has 2 wires on and the other has 3 or 4,resistor held in with 2 screws.

    Are you sure it's a C5?...:rotfl:

    I didn't think they were available until 2001 when they replaced the Xantia, so a Y isn't possible. Y is 1999.

    Wrong;

    Y = 1 March 2001 – 31 August 2001

    the heater rheostat is located just above the clutch pedal within the heater box assembly to the left not too bad to do probably 10 mins at most....cant remember if it clips in or tiny bolts hope this helps you :D

    Thanks for the helpful replies (I'm quite certain it is a C5, its displayed quite clearly on the back of the car!)

    I'm going to change the pollen filter anyway, as we have had it five years and never got round to doing that (we have done the normal air filter and oil filters plenty of times, just never bothered doing the pollen filter)

    If that doesn't work, I should be able to find the rheostat now, so thanks again.
