I got an email from Powergen. It looks like if you're on any sort of benefits, they also offer free energy saving lightbulbs. This is what the email says:
"CaringEnergy offers vulnerable customers a straightforward route into the range of products, measures and services we offer which aim to reduce energy bills, improve energy efficiency, increase household income and affordably heat homes.
CaringEnergy can assist customers in a number of ways:
Free and discounted energy efficiency measures
Free energy efficiency advice
Free low energy light bulbs
Free benefit entitlement checks (to ensure that customers are claiming all the state benefits and credits that they are entitled to.)
Advice on payment methods and tariffs
Priority Services Register (Our Priority Services Register offers a number of services, free of charge, to vulnerable customers.)
Referrals to other grant schemes
As part of CaringEnergy, an additional hardship fund of up to £2 million has been set up.
The Powergen Hardship Fund aims to assist Powergen customers who are low income households who are facing financial difficulty and may not be eligible for financial help from Government schemes.
Customers who wish to find out more should call the dedicated Powergen CaringEnergy number.
We can offer many of these services to all Powergen domestic customers - whether they own their own home or rent.
Please call the Caring Energy team on 0800 051 1480 "
So if you're a Powergen customer and on benefits, you can get free lightbulbs from them as well. Hope it helps someone0 -

Daviddonna - thanks for the Powergen info. We are classed as a vulnerable household, but when I asked them for help about a year ago, they didn't want to know.
Seeing as we put £125 a month into their coffers, I think I'll give the number a call - see if there's anything they can do to help now.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -

and similar comments like mrsyorkie's caused it to turn into a thread hitting on people on benefits as you are aware not everyone on benefits are on it through choice and if you think this is the case you are narrow minded.
end of post please do not comment further the last thread had posts removed due to the offensive comments.
