new ip add

Hi
hope you can help me on this.
My friend was suspended from ebay 6 months ago and is still getting malicios calls from people.
If she got bt to change her tel no would it also change her ip address she is with bt broadband in contract untill Jan.

Comments

  • That depends on if she pays for a static IP assigned by BT, or a dynamic one which most people have I think. If she already has a dynamic IP, it doesn't matter because it will already changed.

Even if she has a static IP, I highly doubt changing her phone number would make a difference to it, but I would advise checking with BT to make sure.

There should be no connection (ho-ho!) whatever between a telephone number and an IP address.

And there is usually no reason for having a fixed IP address, unless you have a web server or an email server on your local network.

Malicious calls can be dealt with by the appropriate section of BT - assuming they are really malicious, and not people justifiably trying to contact her for good reasons...

Its only a month until the £100 is paid off and I think she should really stay off Ebay for a while if she is having "issues"
