This lot are useless.I had been with Abbey for a long time until the following all happened within two months of Santander wrecking a goodish bank.Firstly a letter came through the post from a company I had s direct debit with to say it had been cancelled. On checking my account all direct debts had been cancelled when I had not asked for any to be cancelled.I was told someone in India had made a mistake when looking at my account. Why were they looking at my account and what if my mortgage payment had been missed . Next my pin number for my new debit card was wrong and the m
achine swallowed my card. The help desk asked me for the long card number and I explained as the machine had swallowed the card I did not know it. They helped me by saying they could not help me and asked I go into a branch for assistance. Lastly I was told I could not move money on the internet banking between two Santander accounts unless I gave up the debit card facility on one of the accounts..WHAT. I asked why and was told that's just the way it is. My accounts have always been managed well I have no debt and my considerable salary was paid in each month. I left soon after as these joker have no idea how to treat customers. Moved to RBS and what a difference night and day cherries to a bad lot.Rant over goodnight Santander.0 -
My problem is I seem to be having lots of my direct debits and debit card payments being taken twice, one paid and the other getting ear marked for a week or so!! I am now logging in at least 3 times a day to check balances and even if I haven't used my card the balance is changing throughout the day!!!!! I have had charges put on to the tune of £150 which have now come off...I am so frustrated with the last 3 weeks of service. A & L's service was so good and I never know whats going on now

I'd like to leave and came into this site to look for a better deal! Banked for 30 years with A&L and Girobank before it with no problems at all. Then a fortnight ago I logged on to my internet account and found I'd been locked out.
Snap. I got locked out, 4 phone calls and personal visit to bank - no joy. Moving account asap.Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.0 -
I too have had a repeat charge for a returned direct debit. When I rang to query I was told that they had accidentally put the wrong reference and it was for something else. After checking in greater detail I rang back as this was incorrect - not only had I been charged twice but the DD should never have been returned as I had enough money in my account. Definitely a lucky dip with who you talk to at customer services!!1% challenge - £4018 - reduce by 100 payments of £41.0
