Barclaycard refuses claim under PPI - help.

Hi everyone
I Hope someone can help me with some advice.
Back in February this year, after being treated for depression for the preceding 10 months, I quite my job that I'd had 4 5 years. I was 'lucky' enough to be offered a job by someone I knew professionally with another company in a similar field to what I was doing previously so accepted the offer.
I left my old job on the 5th of February and took up the new position on the 1st of March. Anyway - after 6 weeks in the new post, they decided I wan't suitable for the position and terminated my contract - April 21st to be exact.
At this point I've got a £1400 overdraft with the bank, a year left to on a £10000 (@ £400 a month) loan with the same bank and two credit cards that are maxed out on £1500 each.
I signed on at the jobcenter at the end of April, and because I was able to get some (very infrequent) ad-hoc part time employment, registered myself as self employed. All my self employed earnings are declared to the jobcenter every time I sign on and because of this I haven't received any actual benefit payments in that time. My self employed earnings so far this year average out to about £100 a week and it mostly covers bills and slowly reduces my overdraft.
I knew initially I wasn't going to be able to maintain payments on the loan at £400 a month. I made an enquiry as to whether I was covered by insurance. Told them about my circumstances, filled in the appropriate forms and sent them letters and now have my loan paid every month.
Up until the beginning of August I was also able to cover the credit card payments myself out of what I was earning but as the last two months have been very lean I missed last months Barclaycard payment and will miss this months too.
I spoke to Barclaycard after I missed my payment as to whether I could claim under the PPI policy. I gave them the exact same information that I'd told my loan company and they bluntly told me I could not claim.
Their reason for this was because of the three weeks between jobs back in February meant I hadn't worked 6 continuous months in employment. It makes no difference whether I'm receiving a 'qualifying' benefit or not. They said there was nothing they or I could do except pay up.
I don't know what to do next? I've still been paying PPI since April on my Barclaycard payments not knowing that it was a waste of money, and I'm not sure who to write to to challenge their decision - or even if I have a case to challenge.
I hope someone can help offer me some advice?
Thank you.

Hi
Have you read the PPI reclaim guide - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
and posted on the PPI reclaim forum? - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=169
You usually have to take PPI claims to the FOS. - http://blog.moneysavingexpert.com/2010/07/22/how-many-times-if-your-bank-says-no-to-ppi-reclaiming-its-not-a-failure/Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
I hadn't looked there DarkConvict, I wasn't sure I'd actually had a case for a reclaim as I was actually fully employed when I got the credit card. And now It's 'on record' that I've tried to make a claim against it I'm still not sure.0

Ahhh... yes but you thought you were covered when you were not. PPI won't pay out if you leave a job voluntarily and won't pay out unless you held that job for a certain time 6 months in your case.
In the case of the payments post up a statement of affairs or just pay them £1 per month token payments then take advice from CCCS (Consumer Credit Counselling Service):footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Its always worth a shot, PPI is missold so much, even on the basis you were not offered a choice or were told you had to take it out.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Okay thanks, my concern is that if I start i claim for recovery my payments are still not being made. It's just surprising that one company (Aviva in this case) accepts my case and pays out on my insurance but Barclaycard won't.0
