Help! I broke my blackberry!

I am looking for some help.
I bought a blackberry bold 9700 smartphone from phones 4 u on the 2nd of August 10. I STUPIDLY said i didnt need insurance... and low and behold a month later I dropped my phone and broke it.
The screen had came off so I took it to a repair shop who ordered me in a new screen and said they would try and fix it.
The shop fitted a new screen but said it was dead and just wouldnt work.
It looks much better now as the screen isnt hanging of or smashed,it does not look too bad just a few scuffs.
Is there anyway i could take it back to phones for u and see if they could fix it as its under warranty?
I know its all my fault....but they are soooo expensive and its on a 24month contract with orange so will be paying a bill for what will feel like forever and not getting to use the phone.

Im not sure if you can take it to them under your warranty as you have broken it yourself but you should be able to claim off your house insurance.. i know i have done so in the pastone of the famous 5

I dont have house insurance, live a small rented flat with nothing too fancy in it to need insurance for.
Sandoval I am aware I "carelessly" dropped it, I am sure I not the only person in the world to have dropped something while trying to juggle a baby and car seat and the rest. I am quite aware its my own fault, just wondering if there was anything else I could have done to try and get it fixed. I was happy to pay the repair shop what it took to fix it, they were just unable it get to the bottom of the problem.one step at a time....0 -
Do you have cover with your banks current account? I pay for the platinum account with Lloyds TSB who offer phone insurance that covers accidental damage.
I used the cover when i dropped my 2 week old Samsung Wave and cracked the screen, they replaced the following week.0 -

You already know you arent covered
you chose to not take the insurance knowing you had no home insurance to fall back on
so all you can do is sell the phone as spares or repair and buy another phone to use for your contract duration0 -
You say you had nothing of value in your home to bother getting insurance - well you have already proved that one to be completely wrong. Even your wardrobe will cost hundreds of pounds to replace in the event of a fire or flood. Do yourself and your child a favour and get at least minimal insurance for contents. it won't cost much more than £10 -£20 a month and is worth the peace of mind.
I realise i sound like an insurance salesperson - I promise i am not.0 -

As others have pointed out P4U will not fix it under warranty, but they will be able to send it to the manufacturers (RIM) for repair. There will be a charge for this but it will be less than the cost of a replacement Bold.0 -
I'm not getting into the whole "juggling a baby and a car seat etc" argument, we all have kids and car seats.
I'm simply pointing out that considering for even a moment that any manufacturer's warranty would repair a phone that has been dropped accidentally by the user is unrealistic in the extreme.
'We all have kids and car seats' Really?0 -
Have you tried phoning Orange?? My sister lost her Blackberry and it wasnt insured she had to pay £70 (I think) to get 'emergency' insurance which the allowed them to send her out a nice new blackberry and she now pays the £6 a month for normal orange insurance.....0

Dependent on the repair company i.e. Its fine if they are legitimate and registered RIM repairers if not then by getting them to "repair" the phone the warranty on the phone will have been voided!
a friend of mine had a warranty issue on their phone took it back to the shop the shop told her to take it to another shop that handles their repairs because it would be away for 3 weeks and without being able to get a loan handset, she took it to the shop they opened it up did a repair, few weeks latre the fault re appeared and when she went back to the providers shop and had it sent off, she later recieved a repair bill from the phone provider because the warranty had been voided due to the repair not being carried out by an official dealer.
even if you dont get household insurance some bank accounts have mobile insurance included! with other things included too.
another choice could be ebay? there are some bargains to be had on there with blackberrys I got my first one on there for £70 you could also look at selling the dud handset as spares or repairs or even buy one of the spares or repairs one off there and get the repair place to transplant working parts off yours into the other one to give you a working handset,
i know screen repairs with blackberrys are iffy my nephews tried repairing his to no avail.0 -

You generally need to register the handset details with them beforehand, plus once you have done this there is a 30 day wait before the cover becomes active.0
