Extending a wireless network using an wifi router

I'm thinking about setting up an old PC for the kids to use (as its going to be more robust for young fingers than our laptop).
The PC in question has a network card in it, and runs fine including connecting to the internet when its cabled to the Netgear wireless print server we use up in the bedroom to enable remote printing from the laptops. That print server has a number of network points in it and effectively piggy backs on the main netgear router/modem which provides the primary wifi connection and also the broadband internet connection.
Now comes the question. The PC doesn't have a wireless card in it, and I'd rather avoid the cost of buying one so I was wondering if its possible to cable it from its network card to a spare netgear router/modem that I have and piggy back that router on the main one to enable an internet (and print) connection?
I can't bring the print server downstairs as there isn't room for the printer and the PC in the available space, and we want to have the computer where we can supervise the kids so having it upstairs where the printer is, isn't acceptable. I know I could just buy a wifi card/adaptor for the PC but as I have the router kicking about I wondered if I could save a few quid.

Will the spare router work as a network switch?0

It has 4 network points in it so I assume it does - its a netgear 834G v2 if that helps.Adventure before Dementia!0

I think if you disable DNCP on the Netgear and set a wan address out of the range of your subnet then it might work.0

Thanks very much guys - I suspect with a lot of googling and swearing I might have got there in the end, but on the other hand I might also have spent ages only to find it wasn't actually possible.Adventure before Dementia!0
