I'd be happy for it to be scrapped if it were to be replaced with something far simpler and fairer.
How can it be fair for the taxpayer to subsidise bikes for those whose employers provide a scheme, while the rest of us have to pay full price and don't get to spread the payments?
Also many schemes only allow the user to choose from the likes of Halfords, so it goes straight into their profits (poss inflated prices for example).
There's a hint of sour grapes because it's not available to me, but looking from the outside in I think it's in need of a serious overhaul.
The idea's great, but the implementation is over-bureaucratic.Long-haul Supporters DFW 120

Err...most "taxpayers" have access to the scheme...if your employer doesn't value their employees enough to spend a couple of hours setting up the scheme, take it up with them - not the scheme's fault.
I question whether the scheme's actually worth much these days - I saved a "theoretical" 48% on the rental terms of my bike, but then found out that the "nominal" payment to my employer to transfer ownership was 15%, so probably only saved 30%. Now I understand the "nominal" payment has to be the "actual market value" of the bike, or somesuch - which means it's unlikely you'll save much more than a few percent at the end of the day...0 -
I'd like to see the scheme overhauled so that it's not dependant on whether your employer runs the scheme or not. There are other things like the uncertainty of the final value payment i'd like to see improved - ie a fixed % final payment rather than what's effectively a lottery in the current system.0
