Samsung camera refunded - so now which one?

samsung digital camera refunded by Argos so need to replace with something more reliable

a friend who's into photography suggested getting a camera by a proper camera company (Canon, Nikon) & not a film producer (Kodak) but too embarrassed to tell her my budget, & she's no experience of a 'click & shoot' camera as hers are all singing, all dancing

Budget - 80 - 100 tops

Brand - reliable

Nothing too complicated - its only for family pics, but want them sharp

Li-on battery preferred

any recommendation?

I'd recommend the Panasonic Lumix range. Decent lenses and easy to use.

Join WHICH even if only for a month costs £1 for trial membership I believe.

Or look in the Library for Nought..........Itll tell you Panasonic or Canon, you can get either for less than £100 some models.

The Canon IXUS 100 IS is nice, though outside your budget at £121.
