TalkTalk LLU line, can I switch suppliers?

Hi,
I have a TalkTalk line that I am pretty certain is one of their LLU lines.
What options are open to me to move to an alternate supplier?
Basically they have been making mistakes since I signed up. I have a BT installing a second line so I can move to them.
I am tempted to keep the first line (the talktalk one) as a second line if I could, I work from home so a backup with an alternate supplier would be handy, especially for internet.
I would ideally like to switch to Sky as they would offer me free internet which would bring the price of that second line down.
I did hear somewhere I should not cancel the TalkTalk line first, but try and move away from them first, then send them a letter.
I am aware there are likely to be charges from TalkTalk and am happy to pay those to move away from this awful company.
So, as I say, what options are available for a TalkTalk LLU line and do I need to cancel first or try and move first?
Your help appreciated.
For those that are not aware an LLU line has been removed from the BT system so it is not just a simple ring up and change like a normal BT line would be, if you are not aware of this complication, you might not want to reply. Thanks

You can only go back to BT first from an LLU line. A return to donor is free of charge, but you have to take 12m line rental with BT. Once back with BT, you can place your broadband with any ISP you wish. You do not need another line installing by BT (unless you need two lines).
You won't have to pay TT to cancel as long as you are out of your minimum term contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
And, although your BT line rental has to include one of their calls plans as standard (the Unlimited Weekend Plan is the free bottom option), you can immediately opt for a CPS calls provider if you can find one which better suits your needs.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Dial 17070 - if you get a list of options following the announcement then it's a BT line, no options - not a BT line.
Probably be better off getting rid of TalkTalk completely.0 -
HI Deepindebtor,
For any LLU line if you wish to transfer to another provider you need to first request a Return To Donor via BT, to migrate your line from the LLU equipment back to the BT Open Reach mainframe in the exchange.
This is a free service so you should not be charged, however you may be asked to agree a minimum contract term depending on the plan you take on this line. You would need to consult BT in regards to this.

I'm currently having a problem with TalkTalk in that I'm trying to leave their Opal Telecom subsidiary and having spent time over the last couple of days researching a way of ovecoming their contract "Rolling Contract"; it appears that this Telecoms Industry is a law unto itself.
They all strike me as incompetent and well in need of a Goverment led shake up.
By the way, watch out if you take Opal as your Telecom and BB provider 'cos they have a "Rolling Contract". This means you can only leave them 28 days around your start date with them - or - pay a penalty. If you don't tell them you wish to leave them during this window then your automatically into a new 12 month contract having to wait for the next window 12 months hence.
Buyer beware will have to be the watchword with TalkTalk and its Opal subsidiary. I'm at a loss how these giant companies can do what they like and Ofcom lets them.0
