I am really grateful to everyone for taking the time and trouble to reply constructively and without too much judgementalism to my situation.
I never set out to create a debt, circumstances beyond my control forced me into near bankruptcy. I was fortunate enough to come to agreements with my creditors in time.
I make my other debt payments regularly and in full each month, this one I paid regularly too however last year the payments were getting returned.
One month they would go through the next it was returned. I asked them what was happening and they ignored me. I offered to pay by cheque(it was over the net up until then) again no reply.
Then they sent a letter demanding back payments. I had kept to one side the outstanding payments so I sent that off and yes it came back in £5 lots, weird. Again I wrote to them and again they ignored me.
By this time it was January 2010 and when I could not find my original CCA I started to wonder if there was something wrong in that CCA perhaps it had mis-sold PPII I don't know .
It was then I found this fantastic website and it gave me the information I needed to try and get things moving.
I contacted them using the first template letter for a CCA, just to see if they would reply to THAT letter. No they did not.
The second letter they ignored, remember these payments are still being returned.
After the third when I threatened to stop paying anything they wrote to say that having been paying proved I had a debt with them and them not having a copy of my CCA did not matter.
They also said they would investigate the matter. That was four weeks ago.
Obviously they did not, just passed the debt on instead.
My credit rating is terminal anyway so another default will only add another splash of red to it.
However it is a choice using all the methods advised here to avoid paying this dept or just pay it of regardless as to its validity.
Living with debt has its bad days as many of us know too well and sometimes you just want it roll over and let them take it all. Other days when your met with ignorance and contempt you just want to hit back. I know I have very little clout so any power I do have, I have to make it count in the right place.0 -
Stephen,
dont feel you have to justify your actions to these judgementals. this board is for advice - not judgement.
so altho i dont have much advice for you in the way of your situation, i just wanted to write and tell you to not be disheartened.
debt is a life consuming monster - but you will beat it in the end. im almost there and cant wait for the day that i dont owe one of these sodding robbing banks another penny x0
