Direct mail scams

Help! My elderly father has been replying to scam letters telling him he has one a lottery sending 20 in cash each time. Over the last few months he has sent thousands. How can I stop these letters mostly from abroad. I have power of attorney but he still has mental capacity to manage his own affairs but is gullible. I have searched the internet all morning for a way of stopping these letters to no avail. I signed up for mail preference service years ago

If you have power of attorney, can't you simply redirect his mail to yours??
You can't stop the spam unfortunately, if there were a way, we would all have signed up for it.0 -
I can only re direct his mail if he agrees, so going to try that with him tonight. Trouble is he thinks he can manage it himself.0
