How to find no sale/no fee solicitors

Options
Hello all,
what's the best way to find one of these, hopefully looking for one in the Berkshire area.

Are they worth it, and I presume it costs you a bit more as your effectively insuring against repeat charges?

Thanks

Dan

  • Hi Dan,

we've just used a company called Shoosmiths based in Northampton. They were recommended by an estate agent friend and seem to be a large outfit. After searching locally, I was surprised that their fees were more than competitive. You can track the whole process using their on-line service, too. Their service was very good and helpful.

    Hope that helps...
  • Thanks for that - did it all go smoothly?

Alas at the moment they have this on their site:
IMPORTANT NOTICE Dated 19th September 2006

We regret to inform you that due to existing work levels we are unable to take on new instructions until the end of September. We are sorry that we cannot accommodate you at this very busy time but thank you for your interest.

  • Well I guess that shows they're either very popular or rather inefficient!!!

Our dealings with them were good. I got a bit stressed with the whole house buying thing, but they did do a good job, kept us informed and weren't the cause of any stress. And, there was no nasty surprises with the final bill.
