I had my kitchen fitted in Dec 09 by Howdens. I found the service they provided excellent from beginning to end. We were able to go to Howdens because a family member had a trade account there. They quickly came to measure up our extention. We then went to into their depo and they had plans made up to our spec. We were then able to receive our delivery within 5 days!!!! The cabinets came already assembled and all our fitters had to do was put them up on the walls. the whole process was less than 10 days so we were very happy.

They are a excellent standard, very strong and solid. Everyone who comes to our house always comment on the kitchen and ask where we purchased them.

I have no problem recommending Howdens.
mortgage debt as of Feb is £192,185.01p  mortgage debt as of March £184,619.62
mortgage debt as of April: £182,396.22
Aim to overpay £1,700 pm /£11,500 ops made in 2011 mortgage debt as of May:£179,772.66
  • They are a magnet for idiots. The pricing is ridiculous, and all trade get 70% off, so its not really a discount at all. Maybe I will sell my car, treble the asking price and then try to flog it at 70% off, but I cant imagine how people would fall for it.

The customer service is shocking, worse than British Gas as a company and that is saying something.

I am off to Howdens, used them before, no such problems in the past, should have gone back to them.

Do you mean the same Howdens that do exactly the same thing with pricing? i.e. 70% off

Oh and not ALL accounts get 70% off and it also depends on what exactly is being purchased...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Not true for me. I have bought a Magnet kitchen and was pleased that:
    - Everything was delivered on the agreed date
    - Nothing was missing
    - Nothing was damaged
    - Everything fitted together perfectly
    - The materials were of excellent quality
    - The after-sales advice and service were exemplary (Gloucester)
    - "Discount"? Well, if you had even half a brain you would know what the "right" price ought to be.

Would I recommend Magnet units? On my experience, certainly.

Didn't think Magnets would stoop so low as to start spamming this website.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • Our Howden's kitchen is being fitted next week but I have to say they have been fantastic in accommodating an ever-changing plan! I guess a lot of it store-specific but our designer (Bev at Bridport) has been brilliant - just hope the kitchen looks as good in the flesh! And no, I don't work for them (but I did get at least 70% off everything!).

Just fitted the Howdens cream gloss handleless cupboards and extremely impressed with the sturdiness of their units and the service they provided. Obviously I used a builder to get the full discount but have fitted a large kitchen with glass splashbacks, granite worktops, porcelain tiles, and good appliances for around 10K. Magnet had quoted 23K! Don't buy the Lamona (own range) appliances from them, you can do FAR better using Quidco for vouchers and cashback.
The great thing about Howdens I found, was that any changes or damaged items are exchanged that same day, no questions. My builders put a screw through a door in error, they exchanged it without cost or hassle the same day.
I have nothing but praise for them.

Hiya, how did you manage to get 75% off? I've just literally heard about Howdens from a friend who has a trade card. I've got a very low budget, £1500 max for a new kitchen

Just set up a trade account with them. If you know someone who has a trade account already then use them, as more purchases = bigger discount, but I set up an account to do my own kitchen and they went straight in with 60-80% discounts across the board and were open to negotiations to drop prices on a few bits that I felt were overpriced.

List price is meaningless, it's all down to negotiation. Get a quote from another kitchem place and they'll beat it, you jsut have to do legwork.
  • Ok thanx for your advice, i will pop down to the depot on Sat :T
