Confused.com doesn't like my mother's name

Hi, Does anyone have the same problem as me ie. Confused.com doesn't like my mother's name!My home insurance is due for renewal. Thought I will check some quotes using Confused.com Everything I entered is fine till it got to the field that says enter my mother's name. It keep rejecting her name! Then I remembered I had a similar problem when I tried to use Confused.com last year to get some some quotes. I got so frustrated that I just went with my current insurer.Cheers.

Why do they need your "mothers name"? Is it for a password, and they've just decided that instead of saying "password" they say "mothers maiden name"?

If that's the case I'd be inclined to use another word.

Sounds like confused.com is confused... oh the wit!

What's her name then? It's not "NULL" or something a computer would kick out is it?

If I remember correctly, it said something like some insurance companies require the mother's maiden name as one of the security questions.

Looks like I won't be using confused.com again this year.

It possibly needs to be a certain number of characters, so if it's a short name it might not be long enough. Using another word as suggested by Paul_Herring seems sensible to me.

    Make one up/use a place name/other word.

I wouldn't blame them - it's the insurers it uses that are placing apparent arbitrary limits on passwords.
