Fantastic find, many thanks. 2 nights in a castle in Scotland for £78. Brilliant!

They have family rooms on the half term Friday and Sat 29/30 Oct for Ascot at £39, handy for those visiting Legoland for Fireworks and Halloween, as only 15 minutes away.

Lot of £49 rooms for Greenwich too.
  • The rooms at Barony castle are very tired and dated. Breakfast was not that great either the hotel is used as a centre for the scottish ambulance service... The location of the hotel is about 5 miles to Peebles town.. which has a scattering of pubs and a few local shops.
  • I'll second that about Barony "Castle".
I got a full refund for all our meals and our night in hotel, as it was abysmal. The restaurant and reception areas look lovely, and have recently been refurbished but the bedrooms were a real let down. I had specifically asked for a superior room as this was for our anniversary and instead got a damp, tired (broken furniture, broken heating etc etc), not so clean room.
Real shame. .... The Deveres at Bolton on the other hand, is FANTABULOUS!! Best breakfast I've had EVER lol :)

Last we went was Jan 2010.... lucky to have got there as they had a blizzard which lasted a few days...snow was 2ft deep in places and many of the items on the menu were unavailable due to logistic problems caused by the weather.. The heating had also broken down and everyone got shuffled about into other bedrooms. Its fine at the £19 or even better still at the £9 room deals.. just use the hotel as a base and explore the borders.. the bar at the hotel was also fairly reasonable for a pint (Grolsch) !
  • Does anybody know how many children they will allow in one room? We are a family of 5 and want to go to Legoland sometime.

At the Ascot Deveres, near Legoland, they can normally only fit two additional camp beds into one of their larger rooms. I don't think there is a restriction on how many kids as the rate is by room, not per person. So if they don't mind topping & tailing or one sharing a bed with you, you'll be fine. HTH.

We went to Barony Castle in Jan 2009 and our room was OK, and breakfast was fine. The only issue was the fire alarms that went off all the time. We were outside in our nightclothes in the snow at 7am!

One time we went to Ascot we actually got given 2 rooms with an interconnecting door. 2 double beds.

The next time it was camp beds.
