Proof of Postage?
WelshSun
Hi,
Before you used to be able to get a Certificate stamped from the post office with the delivery address on it.
However I returned a item a few days ago and rather than doing this the person behind the till just gave me a receipt and said that was the Certificate of Postage. However it had no address on it. SO if my oackage got lost and I tried to claim how could I prove I sent it? Or, is my local post office wrong about this.
Thanks

You say that you "returned an item"
Was it a mail order return ? did you pay the postage yourself ?
The receipt will state "packet post rtns" and have the "destination address" printed on it
sometimes just the building number and postcode
The barcode is on the receipt and can be tracked http://track.royalmail.com
funnily enough I checked a packet post return seconds before reading your postHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
It's the new form of certificate of posting with the new RM computer system. Most PO just write the destination post code on it. It is valid for any claim for loss.
If you have the correct one it says on the bottom that it can be used if you need to claim.0
