With effect from the 1 September, BT appear to have increased the minimum contract for reconnecting an existing to BT from 3 months to 12 months.
However, it is still possible to cancel the contract by paying a cancellation fee of £13 in the 1st month or £8 in the second month.
Regards
Sunil

The people writing the BT price list are not going to win any awards for plain english and I know you work for BT - so perhaps you can confirm (hence my use of the word 'appear') but it looks like BT are now making a distinction between the takeover of a line and a reconnection.
'Reconnections require a minimum 12 month term and are subject to a credit check'
Under 'Cancellation Charge' - Take-over (12 month Minimum Period) and 'In the case of take-overs only, the minimum period of service is 3 months

BT, they do like to confuse us all!
Reconnection & take over min term of three months, no connection fee (unless exsessive engineering work required).
New connection 12 months term, connection charge £124.99.
When ever you place a order with BT it's always "subject to survey". This basically means the price or agreed by date can change subject to shortage of network capacity, or engineering problems.
BT have made this more confusing that it needs to be. This is caused by the fact they've published the RES and BUS terms together.
I'll feed this back to our legal & pricing team. The views expressed on this website, be they in text, pictures or sound, are my own personal views. Not those of my employer, its staff or colleagues.0 -
I read that as a reconnection being if you've had your phone cut off due to non payment. In my experience, a takeover would be if a cust has moved into a house and is 'taking over' the existing, but stopped line. A reconnection would be very different and subject to credit checks.gt94sss2 wrote:Ken Livingstone is my mother0
