  • If it's not showing in paypal, it's fishy, for definite.

And that email doesn't read right, anyway.

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • If you think an email is a scam don't use any of the links on the email to access your accounts as normally they will redirect you to a fake login page.

Secondly wait for the actually funds to be transferred into your account before posting the item out to the buyer. Not just trusting any money shown in PayPal.

Last of all, if you still think the email is a scam just ring PayPal up or send them an email asking if it's ok. But do this before posting the item.
  • I wouldn't send an £82 item to an unconfirmed address anyway :)

Absolutely spot on, always log into paypal or ebay using your own links.
Secondly wait for the actually funds to be transferred into your account before posting the item out to the buyer. Not just trusting any money shown in PayPal. .

This doesn't make any difference as a scammer can recall funds for months and if you don't have any funds in your paypal account paypal will just start debt collection against you. Also, sellers are expected to ship promptly and waiting 8 days for funds to go into your bank will mean your item is late in being shipped and the buyer can start a paypal chargeback which just gets messy.
Last of all, if you still think the email is a scam just ring PayPal up or send them an email asking if it's ok. But do this before posting the item.

No need to phone paypal. A genuine payment will show in your paypal account, if it isn't there it hasn't been paid.

I have, and there is no payment there. The only thing I think it might be is that they've sent it to my old address which I deleted, the email seems to say sign-up... which I'm asusming it would do if someone sent you money when you didnt havean account.. but have emailed them to ask about cancelling this and resending to the new address. will see what happens.

If they refuse to do this, can they leave negative feedback?
  • Hi,

All you need to do is log in to Paypal, and register the address that they sent it to as an additional email address.

This then means that your Paypal account can accept payment sent to either address, and should also automatically add the payment in question to your balance.

    Hope this helps.

    forward the email to spoof@paypal.com
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)
  • Oh, and don't forget to change over your Paypal address in your My eBay settings, so that it doesn't happen again (even though it won't matter if you set up to email address on your account, as I mentioned above)

I'm not saying it isnt a scam but the email is similar to the one you get if the buyer sent payment to an email that isnt registered against a PayPal account. Your PP account can have multiple registered email addresses - just go and add your oliver@dm... email address to your account - any money that is paid to that email will then appear in your account.
