The fact you incurred fees means there was some breach in terms and conditions. Most people are so caught up in getting the refund that they fail to acknowledge the reasons that caused them to rack up in the first place.

yep, i have learnt my lesson, wont be going overdrawn again!

well done you! I started the process in august but they never replied within 14 days and I never sent the letter recorded delivery so I couldn't prove it had been sent! I'm gonna start the process again this week as I'm out the country for 2 weeks from friday so I'll remember when I get home to send the second letter!

How long did the process take you? I'm reclaiming £223

    congrats!:T
I always wanted to be a procrastinator, never got round to it...
  • Congratulations! It's well worth it.

I'm currently trying to claim back £560 for myself and my OH from First Direct at the moment, sent the first letter on Friday so waiting for them to reply. We did this in June and had a reply the day after they received our letter, and the money back within 7 days!

It is always their charges every month that is sending us overdrawn in the first place

  • Tell me about it, ive just got a letter saying im getting £564 of charges back from HSBC but there charging me another £125 next month so I emailed them saying could they waiver them as they were going to take me over my overdraft limit and result in me getting charged again the month after and they said no!!!
I know its cheeky but definitely going to write and try and get them refunded!!

Well done - I have just started the process with HSBC as many of my problems were exaggerated by punitive charges, even when I was within my agreed limits and not in breach of t+c. Good to see it can work.

You don't need to be able to prove they received the letter, if you send a letter by 1st class post its deemed in law to be delivered 24 hours later, I sent my first letter off to claim back early redemption mortgage charges two weeks ago without a reply and have sent the second later today!

    Good luck
