BT Reconnection Contract Query

I believe that a BT reconnection is subject to a 3 month contract.
Does anyone know if this applies purely to switching the line away from BT (eg going to talk talk) or does it also apply to CPS services such as Primus?
Thanks.

If you're currently using a CPS provider like Primus, you still have a BT line so it's not a question of 'reconnection' - you'd merely be electing to switch back to BT as your calls provider.
Hence, no minimum period applies (although, should you elect to use another CPS, switching from BT normally takes 2 to 3 weeks).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
No - it's a "new" reconnection, i.e. the phone line has previously been disconnected altogether.

If reconnecting a line to BT - the minimum contract now appears to be for 12 months not 3.
This is for line rental. As such, you can join Primus or any other CPS carrier without any problems.
However, if you wanted to change line rental during those 3 months (i.e. most TalkTalk plans) than you can cancel the BT contract by paying a cancellation fee of £13 in the 1st month or £8 in the second month.

Thanks a lot.
It's not my phone but I will recommend they sign up for Primus ASAP.0
