I am after some advice i am trying to purchase a laptop and a projector for my church (you might remeber my last post on this subject
) i got a quote from dell but i think they might not be giving me their best deal i have looked around but as my computer knowledge is not that brilliant i am not sure what exactly i am doing. i think that it might be this lack of knowledge that has led dell to inflate their prices especially on the laptop. we only need the laptop to have word excel and power point on it does not need a modem but does need a cdrom drive the quote i got had a brakedown of what would be on the laptop and there seems to be a lot more than we need and i wonder whether they are adding things to bump up the price. the projector price is not too bad but still expensive they the want 2 charge us £49 for a bag to store it in:eek:  this seems very expensive to me i dont understnad why they cant just include one in the price we are a charity:mad: . anyway i was just wondering if anyone could help me to decifer what the quote is actually about, whether i need it all and if there is any way of getting dell to lower their price to make it more reasonable
i hope someone can help it would be very much appreciated:beer:

You can check the best Dell prices here:
http://www.wizmarkcomputers.co.uk/index.html
If you can't work it out, list the spec of the one they've quoted you and I'm sure someone will tell you if you're being done!

The great advantage of the Dell website is that you can configure quite a lot of what goes into a PC or a laptop to suit yourself, but for that (obviously?) the person doing this needs to have a good idea of what the various options are about! Is there nobody in your church who falls in this category?
For Microsoft Office software, if you are a registered charity and are prepared to jump through lots of hoops, you can get Office 'almost' free. See http://www.ctxchange.org/. Specifically Office 2003 Pro is £11+VAT.
