Daewoo washing machine

Hi , about 9 months ago i purchased a Daewoo washing machine from Laser , who not long after purchase went bankrupt .
In the 9 months we have owned the machine Daewoo have had to send an engineer out 4 times for repairs and now its broke again
Does anyone know what our rights are now before we ring to report this 5th failure ( no receipt ) ?
Are they just obliged to keep repairing it till the 12 month warantee runs out ?

Many thanks Pennywise 2

    pretty much.

You have no consumer rights against the manufacturers. Just rights under the guarantee.

    How did you pay?

Good! Always, always use a CC for purchases over £100. Even if you only pay a £1 deposit with the cc and the other £99 with cash.

This is because under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, the credit providers are jointly and severably liable for the purchase (providing its for over £100). This means that as well as the retailers being responsible for faults etc, the card company are too. This means that if the retailer goes bust, or you run into heavy resistance to a claim, you still have another party who is legally obliged to remedy the situation (providing it qualifies).

So you can either keep this in mind for future problems, or get onto them now pushing for a refund to buy a better model. It's up to you.

    Hope this helps.
