Tomato Blight??

yes

it spreads really fast and you would have seen the start on some of the leaves or on the branch of the truss yesterday. Chop the entire plant down and check all the leaves and branches of any of those nearby. Some say don't put it in your compost heap, others say it doesn't matter. I threw them all away last year but today I slung it in the compost bin without thinking as I was so distraught.
I've just spent most of today pruning and chopping and all sorts. I now have 5.5kilos of green tomatoes.

Hi, is the "spreading really fast" a good identifier? Some of my toms have started looking a bit blighty, but it has come on slowly over the last week or so and they are still producing; none of the fruit are affected. They are tumbling toms and we have been picking them since mid-july ish, is it more likely just that they are coming to the end and getting a bit past their best?
I think my brandywine might have blight though; but I'm surprised as its been below 7 C here over the last few nights. FOrtunately it's up at the top of the garden far away from the other tomatoes and potatoes, phew.0 -

Thanks for the replies, gutted 'cos a lot of them were just ripening. Have managed to save to big washing up bowls full and will be having bonfire tonight. Two plants that were still in greenhouse seem ok for now so will be keeping a very close eye on them!!Sometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0
