I will be starting a full time job with the NHS on Monday i have been signed off at the jobcentre and i was wondering if anyone knows how long the job grant takes to come through i am a single mum of three children. Also does anyone know how long it takes for the £40 a week payment to begin. Also i have been unable to get through to the Tax Credits office on the phone so i have sent them the information of my start date as i photocopied the letter from the NHS to say i had got the job and i also sent them photocopies of my childrens start dates at college as they both start college this year. I would be grateful if anyone has any advice or informaAlso does anyone know how long it will be before i get my P45 from the jobcentre.

Ive been told the job grant takes 2 weeks!
Ive been having the same problem re tax credits (help!?) line. Ive been told to ring first thing in morn they are open 8-8 mon-sun!
As with the other things im ensure sorry x0 -
You should receive a letter from the jobcentre with the date you stopped your claim etc. I got my letter i think about 2 weeks after i stopped my claim, also in this letter it will tell you whether or not you will be entitled to a job grant, not every one is. I did'nt get it but i was not that too concerned really.
You will also have to make a new claim for tax credits as your circumstances have now changed. As your only starting work it wont be of that much use to make a claim straight away as they dont have any details about your work statues yet.0 -
As for your p45 it took 3 weeks to arrive after i stopped my claim. It takes a while sort things out, took me about a month to get everything sorted out.0

Hi, first of all I want to say congrats on your job and wish you good luck.
I have been working now for 2 weeks and received my £250 grant 2 days ago. I also received my P45 just over a week after I started work, however I didn't wait for the P45 I requested and completed a P46 from my employer. This can be filled out and sent off in the absence of a P45 to get the ball rolling (I believe - but don't quote me - maybe someone else can confirm?).
As far as WTC are concerned you should try to contact them the day you start work and at the very least give them an approximate earnings. I did this and they were very helpful, even worked out my monthly earnings and advised me that I can contact them once I receive my first payslip and they will amend figure if incorrect. I have already received WTC and CTC (but my partner also started work about 4 weeks ago and as it was a joint claim could be related to his earnings).
Anyway hope some of this helps and again I wish you the best of luck xBe careful what you wish 4.......... :shhh:0
