kinodf got shoes to keep his feet warm while out in the sling/carrier.

its recommended that babies do not need shoes until they can walk outside with no problem. as their bones are soft, shoes can damage their feet if worn too early

or if you're mse.... as long as you can get away with not buying them lol!

Beenie - AFAIK shoes aren't needed until baby is walking outside, as when they are indoors bare feet is best for their development. If you're only looking to keep feet warm, you might as well just go for cheap woolly booties or similar. I definitely can't afford to be buying new shoes every 6 weeks starting this early! What Jillie said ;). Also, Finn is clearly behind most PT babies, as he doesn't even pull himself up yet, much less cruise. :o:o

Peeing it down here, too. Went to Argos to get 2 PT things: carpet sweeper and colourful shelves. Too bad we don't earn commission on here! ;);)

I don't mind spiders and just leave them but if someone else notices them I have to catch them and put them outside.

My friend has a 5 year old girl and a teenage girl. The teenager is terrified of spiders so the 5 year old traps them and hides them in her dolls house, then gets them out when the teenager is annoying her :rotfl:

Lashing down with rain here too. All the washing has had to go in the tumble drier and we're going to get soaked when we walk the dogs. I hope it's raining in Fraserburgh this afternoon as that's what square I picked on the Walkers rainy day game.
Here I go again on my own....

hello all. Hope you ar ehaving a fun weekend. I'm off to catch-up, but wondered if anyone can help.

We are going to move A to a new bedroom (swapping her and the spare room around) I want to decorate, but need some ideas. I'm quite fussy in my tastes and would quite like to keep my beatrix potter theme, but as extra added items rather than themeing the room IYKWIM - anyone suggest some inspirational websites/magazines to look at? I'm not a huge fan of pink, but fancy decorating the walls, whilst keeping it young and girly. TIA

Also - anyone going to the baby show at earls court? Hipp baby club have sent me a code for 20% off tickets -PM me if you want it (its generic an non-person specific. Not sure if I can post on here?)

Can anyone recommend a shape sorter toy for a 1 year old? I said I'd buy one for my friends little girl for xmas.

Daisy is like her mummy and likes naked feet:D I hate anything on my feet and love the summer and my flip flops as they give my feet freedom when shoes are needed;) Shoes are so expensive so I would put off buying them for as long as poss!!

Although we couldn't resist little pink converse pram shoes that were reduced:o:rotfl:Got 3-6 months and they're huge compared with Daisy's little feet!

My hair is back to its original colour (almost!) :j
Just used Colour B4 colour remover and it got all the bright red out, it's now a light auburn colour (ginger if you ask OH!). Got a dark blonde to put on it later and hope it goes a light brown and then I'll get some highlights :D

Shoes - I only got shoes for J 2 weeks ago and he's been walking for 5 weeks. I only got them cos he was going out in the garden at creche and one day he went out in just his socks and it was really muddy!
He doesn't wear them much! I didn't bother with Cruisers cos I'm too tight!

OH picked up a pair of Clarks 5.5G in the Chairty shop for £1.50 so once he's that size he's sorted!

Spiders - EEK!!! I get OH to squish them but he makes me clean it up

Jillie - Did you see Elle is coming to our neck of the woods in Nov? If you can get the train to Wazza I can pick you and K up. :)
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?

Juat reading Kindof's posts about E getting fitted for shoes - wondering if i was meant to have done this for Amber already?! Is E walking? I don't intend to get shoes til she's walking... atm she's just cruising and i think those cruisers are a waste of money tbh. She does have some lovely slippers from Matalan though :D (her first footwear!)

My tuppence on shoes. A walked at 9 months and as it was this time last year, needed something. We bought cruisers as her feet were too small for proper shoes - very cute. We were advised she needed something on her feet if she was to walk outside and her cruisers really helped her 'find' her feet once she was up and about, but they like them to be walking unaided for approx 6 wks before they fit them for any shoes.

She was in those for a good few months (3 I think) an we got her measured 8 weeks after buying them then every 2 wks after that. Then she got lovely shiney proper shoes which lasted another 4 months or so, then she got her third pair of shoes which we replaced yesterday and she'd had them for 4-5 months. Again, getting measured about 8wks after purchased then every 2-3wks. Her feet are small and grow slowly and the shop is always surprised we get so much wear out of them. Other friends have to get new ones every 8wks or so and it totally depends on each child.

We only have one pair of shoes at a time and they are about £30. She also has a pair of wellies which were £5 from next. I like startrite as I'm confident in the brand and the shop we buy them from. I have friends who buy from the clarks outlet store near Livingston and they get great bargains, but clarks don't fit A very well :( I also have a friend who's wee girl had a wardrobe full of shoes
Depending on how her feet grow and the weather for this winter, we may buy her a pair of boots as well as the shoes, but we're waiting on that front.

PS - for anyone being nosey (I'm thinking 3 here ;) ) this is what we had
and this is what we replaced them with - both times in red :D

  • MFD are you still there? I gave Alfie breakfast as soon as we got up this morning (*yawn*) then waited til almost 10 for his milk. No throwing up today so thanks for your very sensible suggestion!

Yay - having to do breakfast first rather than have cuddles is a PITA but you would have had to do it sooner or later (unless you plan on feeding him until he leaves home!!)

One babba having a nap and 2 big boys building a combustion engine (one of DSS's gifts for last Christmas :rotfl:) so I have a couple on minutes of me time.

I made a scrummy cottage pie for lunch and all my boys ate loads!! Definitely a family favourite at MFD towers :D

Ales; i try to send Theo to sleep during the day and he will not go to sleep. Somedays he sleeps better than others, but he does sleep well at night; 11pm until 6am. Then sleeps until 10am. He has slept like a log today!

He has been smiling on and off for about 2 weeks, and tonight he was smiling soo much :) It brought tears to my eyes! But can I catch it on my carppy camera.. no chance!!

How did you manage to get him sleeping through our LO's our the same age and I am struggling to get him to feed longer than 2 hours!! Also Thomas isn't smiling yet - not fair :(

Had a horrible night, didn't get to sleep until after 6 and up by 10, plus an hour feeding between. Had a massive arguement with DH which nearly resulted in us spltting up as he really can't cope with the baby at the moment - was having a go at him for not feeding right. We have made up since, thankfully but I am exhausted! He has taken Thomas to a computer fair about 2 hours ago and is really overdue a feed now (3 and a half hours) so being a really worried mummy (want a nap but can't relax!), but maybe good to try to stretch out his feeds . . .
Thomas born 28/08/2010 weighing 5lbs and 4ounces, small but perfectly formed :j:j Now weighs 19lbs and 5 ounces
